Pet New Year THIS SATURDAY!

Make 2014 a memorable year for your furry friends:  Bring them to the 10^th annual Pet New Year!  Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center (AACCC) will be offering $5 cat and dog rabies vaccinations (pets 4 months and older) for Municipality of Anchorage residents and there will be 30 FREE microchips available from the Alaska SPCA.

In addition to the vaccination clinic, there will be many local vendors including groomers, pet product retailers, animal clubs, rescue groups, and more!  Local animal groups will be providing demonstrations and there will be door prizes throughout the day!  Come join the fun and get your pet off to a great start in the New Year!

Discounted Cat Adoptions A Success!

27 Adult Cats Adopted!

This weekend, the Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center (AACCC) held The Price is Right Discounted Cat Adopt Event to celebrate National Homeless Animals Day. All adult cats had their adoptions fees reduced to only $10, $15, or $20, depending on the discount they won through a Spin the Wheel game. By close of business on Sunday, 27 adult cats and 11 kittens had been adopted! In total, 64 animals found new homes since the event began on August 14.

We still have many great cats, dogs, birds, ferrets, guinea pigs, and other animals available for adoption, so for those that missed the discounted adoption weekend, we will continue to have wonderful animals in need of new homes.

We would like to thank our partner, Friends of Pets, for covering the cost of all spay and neuter surgeries for adult cats adopted this weekend, and our staff and volunteers for working so hard to assist the public on such a busy weekend!

UPDATE! Discounted Cat Adoptions – TODAY through Sunday!

We had 10 adoptions yesterday, 6 of which were cats, including Friday, Boo Boo, and Velvet! Not bad for a weekday, but we can do better! PLEASE SHARE, SHARE, SHARE this event and help us get the word out! Help us get all cats available for adoption into new homes by close of business on Sunday! $10-20 per adult cat, depending on the adopter’s spin, which includes spay or neuter, vaccinations, and microchip! You can’t beat this deal!!

This Wednesday through Sunday, adopters can spin the discount price wheel to determine whether their new cat will be adopted for $10, $15, or $20. All amounts are a discount off normal adoption fees, so EVERYONE is a WINNER!

The discount will apply to all adult cats available for adoption Wednesday through Sunday. Adult cats are all cats ages one year and older. 50 Haircuts in 50 States in 50 Days Tour Returns to Anchorage!

National Fundraiser comes to Anchorage to Support Homeless Animals

Need a haircut?  Want to help continue a world record?  Call for an appointment TODAY!  Patrick Lomantini, of Lomantini The Salon, will be coming to Anchorage on Sunday, September 9^th, as part of his 50 Haircuts in 50 States in 50 Days Tour.  Local salon Inspirations, at 700 W. Northern Lights Blvd., will be hosting Mr. Lomantini, who will be doing the haircuts to continue his world record and raise funds for local animal shelters across the United States.

All haircuts will be done for a minimum donation of $20 to the Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center.  Appointments are currently being scheduled between 9:00am-9:00pm.  People interested in participating should call Inspirations at 561-9499.

Share the love with our furry friends!!

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with some four-legged cuties this weekend!  There will be activities for the whole family, such as the Valentine Making Station, cat massage demos, bingo, door prizes and more! This wonderful event is made possible by fantastic AACCC volunteers and all are welcome.  Come meet all the wonderful adoptable animals and maybe find your new forever friend!

AACCC and the Alaska SPCA hold PNY annually to encourageAnchoragepet owners to microchip and identify their pets for the safety of the animal; a message both organizations promote throughout the year. Identification and licensing go hand in hand with the protection of pets. A microchip or tag ensures that pets are returned to their owners if they are lost. A municipal license ensures that the animal will receive medical care if it’s found injured. It also allows AACCC to keep the animal safely with us for a longer period of time before putting that pet up for adoption.
