Summer Adoption Fair!

It’s a PAW-ty!! To celebrate the start of summer, Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center (AACCC) volunteers will be holding a Pet Adoption Fair for our cats, dogs and other animals.

There will be activities for the whole family, such as dog training demonstrations, games, prizes and much more! Come meet all the wonderful adoptable animals and share in the fun!  Mark your calendars!

Howl-O-Ween Adoption Fair – Sunday!

Don’t forget!  AACCC volunteers will be putting on this great event THIS SUNDAY FROM 12-4pm  – and you don’t want to miss it!

Celebrate Halloween with our furry friends!  There will be activities for the whole family, such as the costume pooch parade, dog training demo, howl-o-weenie bobbing, fortune teller, and much more!  The AACCC volunteers have put together lots of fun activities and all are welcome.  Come meet all the wonderful adoptable animals and maybe find your new forever friend!

Winter Exercise Guidelines

With the warmer weather we’ve been having lately, you and your dog may be having some spring fever, but we’re not done with the cold yet.  Here are some ideas to keep your pet active in during the winter for the ASPCA:  http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/pet-care-tips/winter-exercise-guidelines.aspx

Getting pets who dislike the cold to go outside in winter can be a challenge, but chilly weather or not, pets need fresh air and exercise. ASPCA experts assure us that while short-haired and smaller breeds may require cozy apparel to protect them from winter’s bite, others simply need a little training to learn how to enjoy a cold-weather romp.
“With a few simple training tricks—and the right attire—pet parents can teach animal companions to be much more enthusiastic about playing outdoors in winter,” says ASPCA Animal Trainer Kristen Collins.

1. Entice your pooch with off-leash exercise sessions, playing tug or fetch, or romping with canine buddies—the more aerobic the activity, the warmer the dog will be.

Valentine’s Day Adoption Fair

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with some four-legged cuties this weekend!  There will be activities for the whole family, such as the Valentine Making Station, dog training demos, pet videos, “Find a Friend” pet matching, door prizes and more! This wonderful event is made possible by fantastic AACCC volunteers and all are welcome.  Come meet all the wonderful adoptable animals and maybe find your new forever friend!
