Pet of the Week – BIRDS!

UPDATE 3/30:  All 8 birds have been adopted!

Here are the KFAT 92.9 / Wolf 96.3 Pets of the Week:

Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center has more than just dogs and cats! Today we’re going to feature some of the “other” pets available for adoption. Currently, we have SIX parakeets and two cockatiels up for adoption! Parakeets and cockatiels can be wonderful pets, living 15-25 years. They can be very social, enjoying being stroked and held once they get to know you. Smart and easily trained, they can be taught basic commands, such as “step down” to move off you and when you put them back in their cage. Parakeets and cockatiels are social animal and do best with company. All of these birds came into the shelter as pairs and we would recommend each pair be adopted together. The parakeets are $5 each to adopt ($10 per pair). The cockatiels are $10 each ($20 for the pair).
